What is your role in creating sustainable lifestyles in Europe in the future?
As part of a movement of young urbanites going back to the country, 'neorurals' as they're known here in Spain, I'm learning the skills and knowledge necessary for a more sustainable way of life in the country. Living with group of friends we grown our fruit and veg, keep chickens, and try to meet our consumption needs through collaborative and second hand consumption.
But I'm not just driven to further sustainable lifestyles through my own way of life, it's part of my professional life too. Having completed the Forum for the Future MA Leadership inSustainable Development in 2013 I am now living near Barcelona and collaborating with the Centre for Research and Information in Consumption (CRIC), publishers of the magazine Opciones. We are researching the on-the-ground reality of social and 'eco' entrepreneurship in its various forms, looking into how different types of social entrepreneurs encounter different possibilities or barriers for success.
